Braylon Edwards' new book

Posted by Steven Lourie on October 6, 2009 at 7:54 PM

I thought I’d change things up today by talking today about a new book written by an NFL player. The book entitled “how to perform and behave in your contract year” is written by wide receiver Braylon Edwards of the Cleveland Browns. Braylon is a self proclaimed expert on how to perform and behave in your contract year and he wrote a book to share his knowledge with others. We are fortunate enough to have Braylon here today to talk about his book.

The Football Fan Spot: So Braylon tell us some about your book, don’t spoil it for us, but give us a little snapshot.

Braylon: Well the first advice I give players is to build a lot of hype around yourself with a great season 2 years before your contract year. Then, what you have to do is suck, like be awful one year before your contract. Drop every pass thrown to you and really get people wondering what the hell happened.

TFFS: Ok, so I see, and then you come back in your contract year and be as good as you were before right?

Braylon: No, no, you got it all wrong. What you need to do in your contract year is be even worse. You got just not even try out there. Hurt your knee playing basketball, run half speed all year, drop passes, and then to top it off, you gotta punch someone, like hard, so that he goes to the emergency room and you get accused of assault.

TFFS: Ok, I’m not really getting it, what next?

Braylon: That’s it!

TFFS: You mean that’s your secret?

Braylon: Oh yeah, see, if you’re awful they’ll want to take a chance on you thinking that maybe you’ll bounce back the next year and then maybe the next year, its like a slot machine, you pull the lever and win once, and you just keep pulling and lose all your money. Best part is, its fun and you don’t even have to try.

TFFS:: Um, ok, I guess that makes sense, sort of, not really. But answer me one thing, why would anyone want to buy your book now that you’ve told everyone all that’s in it.

Braylon: Well, you see, I’m not the most economically intelligent person in the world. Like I honestly have no idea how to make money doing anything. Oh, hold on, that guy, looked at me funny, I gotta go pop him in the mouth.

(In case you couldn’t already tell, Braylon Edwards did not actually have an interview with The Football Fan Spot. Braylon Edwards, to the my knowledge, has never written a book. Braylon Edwards did not actually say any of these things. I was merely taking a situation and turning it humorous by exaggerating some. Don’t sue me (or punch me in the face) Braylon If you’re somehow reading this.)
